Squaring the circle Collection
This is the first part of my large Mandala Collection. It is inspired by the Polish “Wycinanki” art of paper cutting. In contrast to the traditional folk art, which is very finely cut out and decorated in a rather colourful way, my illustrations are simplified in form and reduced to the colours gradient. They focus on the interplay of the geometric parts. I like in particular seeing the circular pictures in a square shaped frame. It is like squaring the circle.
Das ist der erste Teil meiner großen Mandala Kollektion, die an die polnischen Scherenschnittkunst “Wycinanki” angelehnt ist. Im Gegensatz zu den original Volksbildern, die sehr fein ausgeschnitten und bund dekoriert sind, sind meine Illustrationen in der Form vereinfacht und auf den Farbverlauf reduziert. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Zusammenspiel der geometrischen Teile. Besonders gefällt es mir, am Ende, die kreisförmige Bilder in einem quadratischen Rahmen zu sehen…die Quadratur des Kreises.
